Bolt Action Tournament at July Game-a-Thon

()

The Schenectady Wargamers Association - Bolt Action tournament

Get your order dice ready!
1,000 point Bolt Action tournament at the Schenectady Wargamer's Association July Game-a-thon.

Tournament: Director Will Lane
The event will start at 11:30. I will be there early to set up the tables. After the first round we will have a lunch break and we should be done around 7:00pm.

This is a beginner's tournament so don't bring ultra-competitive army lists. That's not to say that only new players are allowed, anyone may come! Only that there will be a number of new Bolt Action players so please be considerate with your army lists. Submit your list to me by July 6th so I have time to review all the lists. You can send them to wlane3000 [at] gmail.com or just send me a facebook message. If I think a list is too much geared toward power gaming, I will ask that you revise it. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask.

We will be using the BoltAction.net format season 2, a pdf can be found here. The biggest change for list building is that LMGs only cost five points.

Please restrict your lists to two platoons maximum. Generic platoons is preferred but you may use Theater selectors, just make note when you submit your army list. The only selector outright banned is the Soviet Seelow Heights list.

We will be capping at 12 players so please send me your list ahead of time to let me know you're coming.

There will be three rounds. The first round will matched based on historical accuracy and the next rounds will be matched using the Swiss system. The missions will be as follows:
Round 1: Maximum Attrition
Round 2: Demolition
Round 3: Domination (from Tank Wars book)

There will be awards for Best Allied General, Best Axis General, and Hanoswag (best theme and historical accuracy). There will also also be a sportsmanship score factored into the overall score. In addition you may submit one vehicle, squad of infantry, or gun team for a separate Best painted award.

Allied: United States, The Commonwealth, Soviet Union, Belgium, Greece, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Partisans and France.
Axis: Germany, Japan, Finland, Hungary, Italy, Romania, and Bulgaria.

If we get at least two minor nations than I will add a Best Minor General award.

Entry fee: The Schenectady Wargamer's Association is generously hosting our tournament at their monthly Game-a-Thon. They ask that players pay $5-$6 for the event. If this is your first Game-a-Thon you may get in for free.

What to bring:

  • A 1,000 point Bolt Action army
  • Enough order dice for your army, I will have some extra in case we have multiple of the same color.
  • Pin markers, I will have a few extra
  • Enough d6s, I will have extra
  • Tape measure
  • objective markers if you have them. I will bring some quarters in case, but 60mm is "standard." Of course you can use most any sized objective marker as long as it is not too big.
  • A tray could be handy for moving your army around to the different tables.
  • If you have any cool terrain pieces you want to bring, feel free and I can include them.

Special thanks to Skylor, Sean, and Nathan for supplying terrain!!

If you have any questions, concerns, or complaints, you can email me at wlane3000 [at] gmail.com or send me a facebook message.
