Game-a-thon: Saturday, July 19th, 2008

()

It's the peak of summer, so the schedule is a little light this month.

But, don't forget that July is one of our quarterly Swap Meet months!  Think of it as a community Garage Sale for old games you want to get off your shelf.  See the July Game-a-thon page for more info.

Here's the event lineup:

Morning Session ( 11am - 4pm )

Evening Session ( 5pm - 10pm+ )

Looking for Games & GMs for the Summer Game-a-thons

()

We're recruiting GMs for the Summer Game-a-thons
(July 19th, August 9th & September 13th).

We have been seeing many of the same people GMing every month at the SWA Game-a-thons, and we appreciate their enthusiasm and dedication. But we would love to mix it up a bit and see some new people, or those haven’t GM’d in a while, step up to the plate.  Hopefully this will result in different games being run and maybe even bring in some new gamers.

The July 19th Game-a-thon is coming quickly so we need to get started. Can you help us by running a game?

As you know, each Game-a-thon has two 5-hour slots:
11:00 AM - 4:00 PM
5:00 PM - 10:00 PM+ (games can run later, no problem).

As usual July will probably have:
  • FCS D&D in the morning
  • Historical Miniatures in the morning
  • RPGA D&D potentially running both sessions
  • and Conan RPG in the evening.

But we're specifically looking for GMs to run:

Eurogames! A pair of shorter Euro games, especially for the 11am time slot, would be great. With the intent of both in the one 5-hour.  Ideally, we'll have one established, popular game, and one newer game, but this is not mandatory - just an idea.

An "Avalon Hill Classic" for the 5pm slot, something like Advanced Civilization, Age of Renaissance, History of the World, etc.

Or anything else that you'd like to run in July.  Maybe a new game or one you haven’t seen run at an SWA event, especially if it is popular.

If you would like run an event fill out the form here:

If you would request a specific game be GM'd by someone else you can do so here:

Also, don't forget that July is a Swap Meet month.  Bring some stuff that you'd like to clear off your shelves. Or, bring some extra money to buy stuff to put up on your shelves!

Game "Swap Meet" at this Saturday's Game-a-thon

()

This is a reminder about the SWA Game-a-thon coming this Saturday, April 12th.

Not only do we have a bunch of good events (click here to see the full descriptions), but also one of our quarterly Game Swap Meets.

If you've got merchandise you'd like to sell, please consider renting a table or three at our Game-a-thon.

This is meant to be more of a Swap Meet / Garage Sale atmosphere, and not really intended for full merchant setups.

Each attendee can rent a maximum of three tables. The first costs $2, two cost $10, and three cost $20. As you can see, the price structure encourages individuals to rent few tables.

Each table is (2.5' x 2.5'); a standard card table. Some of them are kinda old and thus not very sturdy. Please keep this in mind when planning what you'll bring for sale.

You can reserve your table(s) ahead of time by using the online registration form. You will see the prices repeated there. Please also note that you have to pay the Game-a-thon registration in addition to the table rental fee if you are playing games.

You can also rent tables on a walk-in basis, first come, first served.

Here's our secret agenda... Not only do we want to help you get rid of gaming stuff you're not using, but we'd also like to see this generate some more walk-in traffic.  So feel free to come by and browse.  There is no registration cost to you if you're not playing games.

Here's the summary of events again.

We've got a special all-day Wilderness War tournament.  We've also got FCS D&D in both time slots. And other good gaming offerings as well...

Both Sessions ( 11am - 10pm+ )

Morning Session ( 11am - 4pm )
Evening Session ( 5pm - 10pm+ )

For more information, including full event descriptions, click here for the April Game-a-thon page.

We hope to see you there.

Game-a-thon: Saturday, February 16, 2008

()

This month's SWA Game-a-thon is right around the corner. We're sorry it took a little longer than we'd hoped to get out the schedule. Here's the reason - we need more more people to volunteer to run events for us. It's harder when we have to ask the same people to step up every month. If 20-30 of you could run just one game per year, that would help speed our scheduling tremendously!

Please click here for some Game-a-thon GM guidelines.
Please click here to request an event. Knowing what you want to play helps us focus our recruting efforts.
Please click here to submit an event.

You can also email us at gameathon@swa-gaming.org with any questions or comments - one of us will get back to your promptly.

And now, on to the offerings for this month...

Morning Session ( 11am - 4pm )

Evening Session ( 5pm - 10pm+ )
RPGA Events (11am - 10pm+ )

For more information, including full event descriptions, click here for the February Game-a-thon page.
