Army of Ireland, a new game published by SWA Member Dave Cuatt

()

SWA member David Cuatt announces the release of his newest game by Fiery Dragon Productions: Army of Ireland, The Battle of Ridgeway 1866. Special thanks to all the SWA folks who helped in the development and playtesting of this game.

Army of Ireland is a tactical level recreation of the historically significant Battle of Ridgeway, where encroaching Fenians (Irish-American ACW veterans) clashed with spirited Canadian militia in what is now Ontario.

Special TITAN gaming day, Sunday, July 1st

()

TITAN-A-THON
Sunday, July 1st at 11:00 A.M.
At the Studio of Bridge and Games

We're organizing an all-day, TITAN-and-only-Titan gaming day at the Studio of Bridge and Games in Schenectady.  If you're a fan of the Avalon Hill classic, please consider showing up for this event.

This classic game of the Fantasy Monster Slugathon is a standby from the Avalon Hill of yor. The game is divided into two realms, the masterboard and the battleboards. On the masterboard, legions of mythical creatures roam about trying to recruit bigger and badder monsters and kill opposing legions in the process. When a combat occurs, the space is 'blown-up' by moving the action to the corresponding battleboard type. After lots of dice are tossed, the victor is returned to the masterboard with the spoils of war: points. The Titan is the player's alter-ego, and the Titans' fate and the players' fate are one and the same.

Full Master of Orion boardgame available for download

()

As many of you know, Kevin Hidinger has been working on a board game version
of the Master of Orion computer game for over two years. We've had
several rounds of playtesting at the Studio of Bridge and Games.

Kevin has prepared a ZIP file containing all the materials you need to play.
This file contains the most updated version of the rules, and files for the
maps, counters and record-keeping sheets.

If you're interested, you can download that file here:
http://www.swa-gaming.org/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=7

You want the file titled "FULL GAME Download". Ignore the others; they're
from outdated previous playtest versions. We'll get them cleaned up someday.

If you have questions or feedback, you can email Kevin directly at: KevinH111@aol.com.

Enjoy.

Since this is such a long game, it would be great if everyone has at least
read over the rules before we sit down and play.

See you Saturday.

Star Fleet Battles at Zombie Planet every Tuesday Night

()

Hello Capital District Gamers,

The folks at Zombie Planet would like you to know that Tuesday nights every
week will be Star Fleet Battles night at the store.

Those of you who were at Council of Five Nations last October probably noticed
the large group of SFB players occupying the front room. We were very
happy to get 33 players, allowing us to award two coveted Ace Cards. This
also made us the second or third largest Star Fleet Battles tournament in
the country (next to the National Championships at Origins each year).

We'd like to build upon the success we had last year, and George at Zombie
Planet is helping make that happen.

The basics of Star Fleet Battles are easy. But mastering the game is
a real challenge.
Are you a novice, interested in learning?
Maybe you haven't played in years, but are interested in a game or two to
shake the rust off?
Perhaps you're a veteran player looking for skilled opponents?

Come on down to the store next Tuesday night, starting at 6:30pm. We'll
see who shows up and go from there.

Zombie Planet also now carries the full line of Star Fleet Battles
products. Anything not on the shelves when you visit can be ordered
for you within a few days.

Zombie Planet is located at
1238 Central Avenue, Albany
Between Colonie Center and Westgate Shopping Plaza

If you have any questions about the store, please contact George Vasilakos
at EdenProd@aol.com, or call him at
(518) 438-7202.

If you have questions about Star Fleet Battles, please contact Dave Cheng
at dave@swa-gaming.org, or call
him at (518) 464-1977.

We hope to see you soon.

Diplomacy Play By EMail (PBEM)

()

What better way to keep in touch in between gaming sessions than to play
games by email!? My name is Aaron Marriner, and most of you probably don't
know who I am. I've been to the Studio just once, and I'm trying to become
a more active member of the group.

That being said, there are times when I can't make it to meetings, or
find players. Enter PBEM gaming. I thought it would be fun to hold some
SWA-only PBEM games to help keep the group talking and playing. Specifically,
I've run several Diplomacy PBEM games in the past, and have a site up and
running to do so (there are other games as well, but Dip is probably a good
starting point).
