The art definitely preceded the game and Eric Lang's involvement.

Just to clarify, I was in the hallway, when the ghoul priest spawned in the hallway, due to completing act 2.

If you move into a room with an enemy, it automatically engages you, right? I assumed that it worked in reverse, so if an enemy spawns in your location, it will also be automatically engaged? Being able to move out before being engaged would have made things a bit easier.

Also does the act advance a specific time, or can it happen at any point in the investigators round? Sorry for hijacking the thread!

Thread: Escape Room: The Game:: General:: Same Decoder used for expansions?

Board Game Geek - Marketplace - Sun, 04/09/2017 - 08:02

Anyone know if the expansion modules use the same decoder as the original 4? Don't want to give it away if we will still need it. Don't know if they planned it out that far to be programmed for expansion codes.

I am seriously confused with this entry. Is this Luna by the designer Stephen Feld? If it isn't, please add a picture of your game in your post.

Thanks!

New comment on Blog Post Handmade Aesthetic

As much as I love Winsome, they don't have nearly the handmade aesthetic they once had. They are still minimalist, but they are printed on nice paper with painted wooden cubers. And everything is cut. I haven't had to cut apart Winsome stuff in years.

Back in the day, Stratamax games did everything by hand and sold the games in white boxes. This includes the original Tammnany Hall, for which there does not appear to be a picture of the box.

Dirk Henn's original db-Spiele also were handmade. Queen games republished quite a few in much nicer editions.

And then many of the original Splotter and Fragor games had this vibe as well.

Moving to Minneapolis in a few weeks -- excited for a more active gaming culture than here in LA. It looks like the FFG game center has me covered for my LotR and Arkham Horror LCGs, but I'd appreciate any recommendations on where to go to break into the scene (not to sound lazy, but through a 700 page thread is just too much!). My new place seems to be equidistant from both Tower Games and Dreamers Vault -- what are your thoughts on these stores? I'm down to play anything really, from learning more about wargaming to euros to RPGs. Thanks for any info you can provide!

All the card and character art is complete!

The HUGE, starship deckplans gameboard is awaiting the design of one icon (so is approx 99.9% complete).

"Mayday, Mayday! This is commercial mining vehicle Valley Forge out of the Solomons, registration number 1-8-0-niner-2-4-6-0-niner. Calling Antarctica traffic control. Do you read me? Over.
Comms systems failing, scanners malfunctioning. Several of the crew are claiming to have seen an alien lifeform. Highly aggressive!
Two of us are dead, and two are still missing. We’ve got to get out of here! The captain has ordered Palmer to prime the auto-destruct.
It mustn’t get back! Save our souls."

Thanks for the reference!

It has quite strong compression artefacts. Can you create a version with less compression, or maybe a better suited image format? png or gif should work well for this kind of graphics (in contrast to jpeg).

Note that while the basic game flow is the same, the 2016 edition has more character options, and is normally played to 7 districts.

I don't think anyone has mentioned Paul Verhoeven's 2006 film Black Book. Set in the Netherlands during W.W. It's a tense, morally complex story, and possibly deserves a wider audience than it got.

Excellent movie. The German lead was also a lead in Homeland (last season, set in Berlin).
